Ingredients
- 6 slices of bread (preferably challah or brioche)
- 2 cups blueberries (fresh or frozen)
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Butter or cooking spray (for greasing the dish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- Cut the bread into cubes and place half in the baking dish.
- Sprinkle the blueberries over the bread.
- Add the remaining bread cubes on top.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread and blueberries, ensuring everything is well soaked.
- Let it sit for 15-30 minutes (or overnight in the fridge if preparing ahead).
- Bake for 30-40 minutes or until golden and set.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with maple syrup or powdered sugar if desired.
