Description

Light and airy vanilla French beignets, perfect for brunch or special occasions, dusted with powdered sugar for sweetness.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together the milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter until blended smooth.
  3. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 350°F (175°C) for frying.
  5. Carefully drop spoonfuls of the dough into the hot oil, frying for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they turn golden brown.
  6. Once cooked, remove the beignets from the oil and drain them on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  7. Dust generously with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy your warm, sugar-dusted beignets!

Notes

Serve warm right out of the fryer with coffee or chai. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for best freshness.
