Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set it aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and creamy (about 2-3 minutes).
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  7. Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes in the fridge.
  8. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop the dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving ample space between each cookie.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are just set.
  10. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For an elevated flavor, add a sprinkle of sea salt on top before baking. You can also experiment with different chocolate types and add nuts or oats for texture.
