Description

Charming and festive meringue cookies shaped like trees, perfect for holiday gatherings and easy to make with kids.

Ingredients

  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Green food coloring
  • Red and gold sprinkles (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the egg whites with cream of tartar until soft peaks form.
  3. Gradually add the sugar while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form. The mixture should look glossy.
  4. Blend in the vanilla extract and a few drops of green food coloring until you achieve your desired shade of green.
  5. Transfer the meringue mixture into a piping bag and pipe out tree shapes onto the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Add red and gold sprinkles generously for decoration.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 60-90 minutes, until the meringues are firm and can be lifted off the parchment paper easily.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool completely before serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature. Meringues can last for about a week if kept dry. Freezing is an option with parchment paper between layers to prevent sticking.
