Description

Freshly baked cinnamon rolls that are fluffy, sweet, and perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk (heated to 110°F)
  • 2 + 1/4 tsp. active dry yeast
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 2 Tbsp. melted butter (divided)
  • 4 Tbsp. granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (plus 2-4 Tbsp. as needed)
  • 6 Tbsp. softened butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
  • 4 Tbsp. softened butter (for brushing)
  • 4 oz. softened cream cheese
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, active dry yeast, egg, 1 Tbsp. melted butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Whisk until combined.
  2. Stir in 3 cups all-purpose flour using a wooden spatula, adding additional flour as needed until the dough is no longer sticky. Knead for about 3 minutes.
  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm spot for about 60 minutes, until doubled in size.
  4. Prepare the cinnamon filling by mixing softened butter, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon.
  5. Roll the dough out into a 17 x 10 inch rectangle, spread the cinnamon filling evenly, then roll the dough up tightly and cut into 8 sections.
  6. Place the cinnamon rolls in a greased 9×13 inch pan, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Brush with melted butter and preheat oven to 350°F. Bake rolls for 20-25 minutes.
  8. For frosting, beat together softened butter, cream cheese, and vanilla. Gradually mix in powdered sugar until smooth.
  9. Spread frosting over warm cinnamon rolls and serve.
