Ingredients
- 1 loaf of bread, cubed
- 2 cups of blueberries (fresh or frozen)
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Butter (for greasing)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your baking dish with butter.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Layer the cubed bread in the greased baking dish, then sprinkle the blueberries on top.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread and blueberries, pressing down gently to soak the bread.
- Let the casserole sit for at least 30 minutes, ideally overnight.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden and the center is set.
- Cool slightly before serving and enjoy!
Notes
Use slightly stale bread for the best texture. Feel free to substitute blueberries for other berries, and add toppings like maple syrup or whipped cream.
