A delightful and easy breakfast casserole made with croissants, eggs, and cheese, perfect for family gatherings or weekend brunches.
Ingredients
- 4 croissants, torn into pieces
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup shredded cheese (e.g., cheddar or mozzarella)
- 1 cup diced cooked ham or cooked bacon
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Spread the torn croissant pieces evenly in the dish.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and if desired, vanilla and cinnamon.
- Pour the egg mixture over the croissants, ensuring they’re all coated.
- Sprinkle cheese, diced ham or bacon, and green onions on top.
- Cover tightly and refrigerate overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) in the morning.
- Bake uncovered for 30-40 minutes or until set and golden on top.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Use day-old croissants for a crispy texture. Customize with sautéed vegetables or herbs for extra flavor.
