Description
Delicious homemade cinnamon rolls topped with creamy frosting, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1-2 tablespoons milk (for frosting consistency)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt together.
- In a separate bowl, warm the milk slightly and melt the butter, then combine both with the dry ingredients including the egg.
- Knead the dough by hand until it’s smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes. Let the dough rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Once risen, roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface. Spread more melted butter over the dough and sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar.
- Roll the dough tightly from one end to the other and slice it into rolls. Arrange them in a greased baking dish and allow them to rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- For the frosting, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
- Spread the frosting over the warm rolls and enjoy!
