Description

Delicious homemade cinnamon rolls topped with creamy frosting, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk (for frosting consistency)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt together.
  2. In a separate bowl, warm the milk slightly and melt the butter, then combine both with the dry ingredients including the egg.
  3. Knead the dough by hand until it’s smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes. Let the dough rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  4. Once risen, roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface. Spread more melted butter over the dough and sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar.
  5. Roll the dough tightly from one end to the other and slice it into rolls. Arrange them in a greased baking dish and allow them to rise for another 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  7. For the frosting, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  8. Spread the frosting over the warm rolls and enjoy!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container. Great when served with coffee or tea.
