A decadent French toast casserole that combines comfort with ease, perfect for brunch or holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf of bread (cubed)
- 6 eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup cream
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- Butter (for greasing)
- Powdered sugar (for serving, optional)
Instructions
- Whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt in a large mixing bowl until fully combined.
- Grease a baking dish with butter to prevent sticking.
- Place cubed bread evenly in the prepared dish.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) the next morning.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown and custard is set.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving and dust with powdered sugar, if desired.
Notes
Use day-old bread for the best results. Optional add-ins include chocolate chips or fruit.
