A classic country fried chicken breast recipe featuring crispy, golden chicken with a savory seasoning, perfect for a family dinner or weekend brunch.
Ingredients
- 4 chicken breasts
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Gravy (for serving)
- Mashed potatoes (for serving)
- Green beans (for serving)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, black pepper, and paprika.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk until well blended.
- Dip each chicken breast into the egg mixture, allowing the excess to drip off, then coat thoroughly with the flour mixture.
- In a skillet, heat a generous amount of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
- Fry the chicken breasts in the hot oil for about 6-8 minutes on each side, or until they’re golden brown and cooked through.
- Once cooked, transfer the chicken to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- Serve the chicken hot with gravy, mashed potatoes, and steamed green beans for a wholesome meal.
Notes
For a healthier option, you can bake the chicken instead of frying. Storing leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator keeps them fresh for up to 3 days.
