Description
Transform classic deviled eggs into festive Christmas Tree shapes for your holiday gatherings with this fun and delicious recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 dozen eggs
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- 3 tablespoons dill pickle relish
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill (plus more for garnish)
- 1 drop green food coloring (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup diced red bell pepper (for garnish)
Instructions
- Place eggs in a large pot filled with 2 inches of boiling water. Cook for 12 minutes.
- Immediately transfer the cooked eggs to a large bowl of ice water. Let them cool completely for about 12 minutes before peeling.
- Once cooled, carefully peel the eggs, halve them lengthwise, and remove the yolks. Place the yolks in the bowl of a food processor.
- Add mayonnaise, mustard, dill pickle relish, parsley, dill, the optional food coloring, salt, and pepper to the food processor. Blend for 1–2 minutes until the mixture is completely smooth.
- Transfer the filling to a piping bag or a zip-top bag with a 1/2-inch corner snipped off.
- Fill each egg white half with the yolk mixture, piping in a back-and-forth motion to form a triangle shape resembling a Christmas tree.
- Sprinkle the finely diced red bell pepper over the ‘trees’ to mimic ornaments. If desired, garnish with more fresh dill.
- Serve immediately or chill before serving.
Notes
Feel free to substitute Greek yogurt for mayonnaise for a lighter option, or use different herbs to tailor the flavor.
