A comforting and hearty casserole combining layers of tender potatoes, savory ground beef, and gooey cheese, perfect for weeknight dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Olive oil for cooking


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and minced garlic, sautéing until softened.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet, seasoning with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook until browned.
  4. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by the cooked ground beef mixture and half of the shredded cheese.
  5. Repeat with the remaining potatoes, beef, and top with the remaining cheese.
  6. Pour the beef broth over the casserole.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until potatoes are tender and cheese is bubbly.
  9. Allow to sit before serving.

Notes

Feel free to substitute turkey for ground beef or add vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms for added nutrition.
