A succulent beef tenderloin roast that serves as an impressive centerpiece for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 beef tenderloin (about 4-5 pounds)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons fresh rosemary (or 1 teaspoon dried)
- 2 teaspoons fresh thyme (or 1 teaspoon dried)
- 1 cup beef broth or red wine (for basting)
- Optional: butter for basting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- Rub the beef tenderloin generously with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, rosemary, and thyme.
- Place the roast on a rack in a roasting pan for even cooking.
- Roast it in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes to create a crust.
- Reduce the temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue cooking until the internal temperature reaches 135°F (57°C) for medium-rare (about 30-40 minutes).
- Baste the roast with beef broth or red wine every 15 minutes.
- Let the roast rest for 15 minutes before slicing into it.
Notes
Consider adding smoked paprika or topping with mushroom sauce for a unique flavor.
